Hi. I live in the USA. Where can I get this Gibertini 1.5 m offset dish? How heavy is this 1.5 m dish (in Kg)? Also will it work with an SG2100 DiSEq 1.2 Stab Usals motor?
Posted 21 08 2008 by zombie
Even though the Gibertini 150 isn't a heavy dish for its size, i would not recommend the SG2100. A more powerful 36V H-H motor matches this dish very well.
I have not been able to find a site in the USA offering this product.
If it helps, i got the dish, motor and adapter plate from

where can i get a motorised C-band dish here in zambia if not availalble where else can i get them from.

Great site, very well written. Did make the stand yourself? I want a dish for Arabsat fixed so what do I need to order, I'm located in Belgium.
Well done. JD Belgium.
Posted 19 10 2008 by zombie
I designed the stand but had someone else build it.
Can see now i've made a mistake, when i said Arabsat i meant Nilesat 101/102 & Atlantic Bird 4 7.0°W, both have many of the same channels. I'm picking up the 'middle east beam'. I think you might be able to receive this with a 1.2m dish but for the 'wide beam' it would not be enough.
Judging by the footprints, to get Arabsat 2B 30°E in Belgium would require even larger dish.

sorry for further confusion..i think i must have called 26.0°E for Arabsat because all the Arabian channels. I'm guessing you should be able to pick these up with a 1.2m dish. I think the footprint maybe a bit off. I get Libya Sports 11727 H. Hope this helps :)

hi i was wondering if have tried a c-band lnb on the gibby if so how did it do.
Posted 06 11 2008 by zombie
Havnt tried with c-band but i saw a program on 'DR. Dish TV' with a 1.8 channelmaster, it was very limited what they where able to pick up in that part of Germany. My location is not far from there. Could still be interesting to try!

Congratulations on your nice setup.
One question for you, if you have time to answer: How have you set-up declination with the Gibertini and the adapter plates? Because I am trying to set-up the smr-1224 with a Gibertini op-125 with the adapter plates and got a bit confused getting to declination settings.

They also do a strong polar mount where you can fit an actuator for the Op125cm & 150cm. Nice set up zombie

I understand hw the dish moves horizontally, but what about using it to track different satelliteon different elevation,i.e intelsat 7/10 ku and eutelsat w3a. --- diffrent azimuth apart and wider levation apart .
Im concrned about the elevation motion.

Hi, the email bounced back so i post here.
There should be no problem picking up the satellites you mention.
Once the motor and dish are aligned correctly, it will follow the satellite arcs 180 degrees, so the elevation will automatically follow on both dish and motor.
However there are a few inclined orbit satellites where you would need an inclined orbit tracker as the satellite changes elevation/position. But this is maybe only 3 % of them, and often with no channels. In this situation, an option could be the SMR 1224 EL motor. It will however limit the span of horizon as the inclined orbit tracker will restrict movement on the further east/west satellites. Hope this helps.

can you tell me please did the adapter plate come with the dish, (as i'm told the dish won't fit the 1224 motor), if it didn't where did you get it from, you've done EXACTLY what i want to do.
thanks for any info you give.
Posted 28 08 2009 by zombie
You are right, the dish wont fit on the 1224 motor without an adapter plate, i purchased this from http://www.satshop24.de/satshop24_s/montageset_smr_1224_smr_1224_el_zur_mont,pd310!0,,M-Set_Gibertini.html

thanks for the above info on the plate adapter, i'm interested in buying one , the only problem is the site is in German, and me being a thick English lad can't understand it.
Do you know of any English sites which sell the adapter plate, i've looked but can't see any.
Hope you can help.

I have just hold of a SMR 1224 but with no instruction manual. if you still have yours could you send me a copy.

hope you don't mind me contributing to your blog, I've been an enthusiast for about 25 years and my company has been agent for Gibertini in the UK since I became aware of the dishes about 11 years ago my original sample (a 1M dish) has been used everyday since it was first installed - it's used on a STAB-USALS motor HH100 this company make a much more durable motor than the Asian SG2100 which is cheap but no ware near as durable - STAB don't recomend using the HH120 for the Gibertini 1.5 but I have used one for 3 years without problem - there is play in the motor (due to the way the gearing works but it has got no worse over time - of course the 36V system you have has even better durability but the benefit of USALS might suit some people better - I posted a Youtube video explaining how to fit it - you can find it posted under hisatdotcom - have you had any problems after painting the dish black - I ask because Black doesn't reflect light so the suns rays must be obsorbed into the dish and that would make it hot and that in turn could change the shape of the dish - painting a dish is a good way to hide it but I'd have recommended a Grass Green in your environment - what do you think?
Posted 11 06 2010 by zombie
Great post Tony, the STABs seem very good. I can see the HH120 working with the Gibertini 1.5. I dont think my motor would handle a larger dish like the 1.8m Andrews/Channelmaster but for what i have, it works well. Good point about the paint, i dont think it affected performance. I chose a matt black as to not reflect sunlight into lnb and i like the color though i would be ok with dark green too, no problem with sun outage while checking for obsticals bloking dish on low elevation satellites. Because of the non glossy paint and black color i would agree that the dish is absorbing heat instead but this has not been any problem. I would say the dish performs pretty much the same as when i got it also about 3 years ago. The thing that worries me the most is strong winds and that this might warp dish, there has been some scary moments. Which LNB do you use on your 1.5m Gibertini? I started with the Channelmaster feedhorn and a few different C120's. I have now found best performance with an Inverto Black Ultra twin, at least a nice signal boost on Astra 2D.

I am trying to find a dc motor to replace the one that burned out in my WattSun single axis tracker.
Do you think the Jaeger 1224 motor is right?
My motor is 4" long from mounting face to rear bearing, is 2" in diameter and has a worm gear drive. It operates on 24v dc. any help is appreciated. Cheers
